The upcoming TBS Superstation Original Movie “America’s Prince: The John F. Kennedy, Jr. Story” stars newcomer Kristoffer Polaha as JFK, Jr., a true man of the people despite whatever privileges he grew up with. The film spans three decades and attempts to mix elements of cinema verite with traditional drama to create a partial pseudo documentary effect, but the film is too short to really give any well-rounded look into one of the most dynamic personalities to have ever lived. I remember when the news broke regarding JFK, Jr.’s tragic death. I worked just a few blocks away from where he lived. I never met him personally and if I saw him on the street, I probably did not recognize him, but from what I do know by those who saw him on the streets and even on the subways of New York City, John F. Kennedy, Jr., was truly a man of the people who never acted above anyone even with his prestigious background and I believe had he not passed away, he probably could have followed in his father’s footsteps and eventually become the President of the United States. Kristoffer Polaha looks a bit ridiculous in the almost Afro like 1980’s hairdo wig seen in a large part of the film, but he does communicate a charisma to give the viewer the illusion of the man. Jacqueline Bisset gives a classy performance as Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis.
