Frank Mancuso, Jr. (Body Parts, Species, and Friday The Thirteenth Parts III –
V) put together this little horror film that spoofs the conventions of the genre
about a decade before the “Scream” trilogy ever hit the big screen. The
dialogue is not nearly is sharp though, but the makeup effects are quite
effective. I did not quite care much for this film personally, but can
understand why it has developed a devoted fan base.
Paramount
Home Entertainment presents “April Fool’s Day” with a new anamorphic
widescreen (2.35:1) aspect ratio complete with a new English Dolby Digital 5.1
Surround Soundtrack. The picture is clear and free of blemishes, but the 5.1
Surround Soundtrack is a little hollow at points if not flat. An English and
French Language Dolby Surround Soundtrack is also included along with English
Captions and Closed Captions for the hearing impaired. The menus are standard
interactive still frames that are easy to navigate.
"April
Fool’s Day” will debut on DVD-Video on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 from
Paramount Home Entertainment.
