My friend from across the pond informed me that Warner Home Video is going to release on Region 2 (PAL) DVD a triple feature disc set containing the "Babylon 5" TV movies "Thirdspace," "The River Of Souls," and "A Call To Arms." These are the remaining original films produced while the series aired on TNT, but sadly "Babylon 5: The Legend Of The Rangers: To Live And Die In Starlight," which aired on the Sci-Fi Channel, has not been officially announced for DVD release nor has the limited spin-off series "CRUSADE." Hopefully when these discs make their eventual Region 1 NTSC DVD debut, the four unreleased TV movies will be released together and the complete "CRUSADE" TV series will not be far behind. Rumor has had it that all six "Babylon 5" TV movies would be released in a box set of their own before the end of the year, but there not yet been an official announcement from Warner Home Video on this yet at the time of this post. For those of you with Region Free DVD players who can't wait and for those who live in the UK already, you can preorder this set now by clicking on the link here - http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=162779&p=57&c=&g=72. I will post information on any Region 1 DVD release as news becomes available. Big thanks to my friend Kim for the heads up!

Last but in no way least, here is a picture for the widescreen "Star Wars Trilogy" DVD box set that streets on September 21, 2004.

In other Sci-Fi DVD news today, Columbia TriStar has announced the official DVD release of "Starship Troopers 2: Hero Of The Fderation." Read all about it below.

STARSHIP TROOPERS 2:

Hero of the Federation

DVD Premiere Sequel to the Hit Sci-Fi Action Epic

Directed by Visual Effects Master Phil Tippett

Debuts on Special Edition DVD and Videocassette

on June 1 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment

Culver City, CA (March 22, 2004) - The alien bugs are back and the interstellar assault rages on with the premiere of STARSHIP TROOPERS 2: HERO OF THE FEDERATION, the much-anticipated sequel to Paul Verhoeven’s cult-classic 1997 hit Starship Troopers.  Marking the directorial debut of Academy Award®-winning visual effects supervisor Phil Tippett (who worked on VFX for the original Starship Troopers in addition to other high-profile films such as Return of the Jedi and Jurassic Park) with a screenplay by the first film’s writer Ed Neumeier, STARSHIP TROOPERS 2: HERO OF THE FEDERATION will debut June 1 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment on Special Edition DVD and VHS (rental).

Starring a sexy cast of talented young stars including Kelly Carlson (TVs “Nip/Tuck”), Ed Lauter (Seabiscut, Leaving Las Vegas), Richard Burgi (TVs “24”) and Sandrine Holt (Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever), ST 2: HERO OF THE FEDERATION is loaded with state-of-the-art CGI creature effects, high-octane futuristic battle sequences and the infamous man-eating killer alien bugs!

STARPSHIP TROOPERS 2: HERO OF THE FEDERATION picks up where the original film left off, right back to the frontline of battle against the arachnid warrior bugs at a desolated outpost on Zulu Angel, a storm swept planet where the first film’s arachnids gained a murderous grip over humanity.  A small group of mobile infantry Troopers lead by General Shepherd (Ed Lauter) find themselves taking refuge in an abandoned Federation outpost where they discover the last remaining soldier Captain Dax (Richard Burgi), who helps them fight off the encroaching arachnids.  Isolated from the outside threat, the rag-tag band of fighters discover a much graver danger is actually infiltrating their unit and a terrifying new breed of enemy is hunting them down from within.

In addition, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will also release the original STARSHIP TROOPERS and STARSHIP TROOPERS 2 together in a special two-pack DVD set, available at the low price of $36.95 SLP.

In my own neighborhood WWE Smackdown Professional Wrestlers RIKISHI and SCOTTY 2 HOTTY were signing autographs at Game Champ on 86 Street. The standup guys at Game Champ let me snap a quick shot of the two WWE Wrestlers signing autographs and while I wish I got a better photo, I thought I'd share the shot I got with you all anyway so here it is:

Big thanks to Neal and his staff for sneaking me through the crowd to take a shot and to the WWE for bringing Wrestlemania back to where it all started at Madison Square Garden. As an aside, the folks at Game Champ are courteous, honest, and friendly and they also have a great selection of DVD-ROM games for all the major video game systems and they carry a nice supply of DVD-Videos too.
