November 16, 2005 - Here is a review of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Home Entertainment's "Stargate: SG-1: Season 8 DVD Box Set." I've gotten questions regarding the upcoming re-release of the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. Here are the facts courtesy of Lucasfilm Publicity:

For the holiday gift-giving season, Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox are releasing a special limited-edition “Star Wars Trilogy Value Pack,” at a new low price, on Dec. 6. This is the collection for families and consumers who are eager to own the Trilogy in a value-conscious way

This special three-disc set is available only for a limited time, through Dec. 31 and was created especially for the holiday season. The retail price is $34.99. Of course, the four-disc "Star Wars Trilogy" set is still available for fans who want all of the award-winning bonus material

The “Value Pack” is available in both widescreen and pan-and-scan formats and does offer DVD features, including:

And, of course, the  picture and sound quality on the limited-edition “Value Pack” are of the same high standard found in the four-disc collection.

I also asked about the packaging of this DVD set and was told it will contain the three films individually packaged in cases within a slip much like the previous set. More TV, DVD, and UMD  reviews coming soon.
