June 17, 2008 - It is a very sad loss indeed for all people involved in the entertainment business of or simply fans of genre film and television when it was announced that SFX master Stan Winston had passed away at the age of 62. Among Stan Winston's many contributions to creature creations and effects in genre films include all three Terminator feature films, Aliens, all three Jurassic Park movies, and he created and directed the late 1980s cult horror film Pumpkinhead. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will live on forever not only in his completed work, but in those he has inspired and had the opportunity to work with him.

Universal City, California, April 17, 2008—Universal Studios Home Entertainment revealed its initial lineup of film and television properties arriving later this year on Blu-ray™ Disc, day and date with DVD, it was announced today by Craig Kornblau, President, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures Digital Platforms. Marking the rollout of the studio’s first global release on Blu-ray™ will be the “Heroes: Season Two,” which will debut beginning August 26, 2008.
The highly anticipated premier of the sophomore season of NBC’s “Heroes” will be buoyed by the simultaneous debut of “Heroes Season One” on Blu-ray™ . Later in the year and in time for the holidays, five of the year’s most promising feature films will arrive in high definition: THE INCREDIBLE HULK, the action-packed new chapter of one of the most popular Super Hero sagas of all time that stars Edward Norton, William Hurt and Liv Tyler; Wanted, the action-thriller from stunning visualist director Timur Bekmambetov that stars Morgan Freeman, James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie; Hellboy II: The Golden Army, the epic vision of imagination from acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro; Mamma Mia!, the musical romantic comedy in which Meryl Streep leads an all-star cast in the adaptation of the beloved musical; and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, the next installment in The Mummy franchise in which Jet Li, Maria Bello, Michelle Yeoh and newcomer Luke Ford join the returning Brendan Fraser and John Hannah for a supernatural adventure that shifts the series to the Far East.

The first of Universal’s new theatrical Blu-ray™ releases hitting store shelves this summer day and date with its DVD counterpart is the apocalyptic thrill-ride DOOMSDAY, starring Rhona Mitra, Malcolm McDowell and Bob Hoskins. March 31, 2008 - In case anyone has been wondering what has been going on, here is what's been going on. First off, my landlord is renovating the bathroom in my apartment and due to misunderstandings between the contractor and the landlord, the job went on for almost three weeks. Now let me tell you all, the one thing I have learned from this is that the bathroom is without a doubt the most important room in the house. You can get by without a kitchen, bedroom, living room, and dining room. You can get by without a dedicated home office and home theater, but you cannot get by without a bathroom. So for more than ten days I was using my brother's old PC and staying at my parents and unfortunately none of them have Blu-ray disc players for me to screen the movies I receive so I had to wait until I got back here and then the bathroom was still not finished so I had get "assertive" since being patient was not getting me anywhere. So with nothing left to do, I made due and hence I have new reviews beginning with Warner Home Video's Blu-ray Disc edition of "I Am Legend." I will have more to follow and will devote my time toward getting media reviews online ASAP so for those who have been wondering, please accept my apologies and know that I am true to my word so stay tuned.
Next week there will be another period where the site will go dark because I have a hernia and have to have surgery. I know things have been slow, but there has been a good reason behind it and if there are any questions or concerns, those who know how to contact me by phone can call me and I'll answer any e-mail inquiries. Everything sent has been received since the mailing address is different from my office address because in situations like this, it works out quite well. Anyway, sorry for the lengthy posting here, but I'd rather have peace of mind and be honest, especially when it is not my fault than just state some excuse that while preserving my privacy, could be perceived not genuine. I assure you that this is quite genuine. So thank you all again. Peace.
