This is a Region One website so I do not review imports, but sometimes I have to admit that I see things in other regions overseas and think to myself,  "I wish they would do something like that here." Case and point, the completely restored and remastered 4-Disc German DVD release of the original David Lynch feature film version of "Dune." I wish Universal Studios Home Video would do something like this for the States. Please note that this foreign release is not produced or distributed directly by Universal. I guess the people of Germany love "Dune." You can read about this import set by visiting this link at Dune - Behind The Scenes. Here it is: http://www.duneinfo.com/giedi_prime/dvd_mf. Big thanks to Mark at Dune - Behind The Scenes AKA www.duneinfo.com for the information and permission to present this link here. In addition, the Region 2 Project posted information detailing the DVD release date for "The Hulk" this December. I am not sure if the date given is a global release date or just for the UK so please keep that in mind. Here is the link - http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=7&articleId=5685. Big thanks to Andy. LEXX fans take note, after numerous questions I have received from readers about the cult Sci-Fi series, I spoke with a representative at Acorn Media who let me know that the fourth and final series of "LEXX" will run up to Video Set Six, which will be released in April of 2004. Afterwards the complete fourth series of "LEXX" will be released as a box set in August of 2004. The complete third series box set will arrive in August of 2003, but the individual volumes for series two through four will continue to be available separately and you can expect to read reviews of the remaining series 4 volumes as they become available and the reviews of these discs can be read now here at GENRE ONLINE.NET.

July 8, 2003 - Here is a review of the USA Network's series premiere of "Peacemakers" starring Tom Berenger, which will premiere on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at 9PM (ET/PT) with weekly episodes following on Wednesday nights at 10PM (ET/PT).

July 7, 2003 - Here are DVD reviews of Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment's "SPIDER" and "Die! Die! My Darling!" and Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Home Entertainment's "La Femme Nikita: Special Edition" and "Wings Of Desire: Special Edition" as well as Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's "King Of The Hill: The Complete First Season" and Comedy Central and Warner Home Video's "South Park: The Complete Second Season." I have also added Multimedia reviews of LucasArts Entertainment Company's "Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided" Windows CD-ROM and "Indiana Jones And The Emperor's Tomb" Sony PlayStation 2 DVD-ROM.

Alas with the complete dominance of DVD over any other home video format, I will no longer be reviewing VCD titles since most are now available on DVD or soon will be so let me give special thanks to Eureka Movies.com for supplying the product and for their support and please note that all of the VCD reviews I did publish will remain available to read on the Archived VCD Reviews Page. Thank you.

ABOUT BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE COMPLETE EPIC SERIES

Battlestar Galactica, the definitive battle between the last surviving human colony and an evil robotic race, premiered on ABC in 1978 to an audience of 65 million viewers. The show remained a top-15 series throughout its brief run, and was eventually cancelled due to the prohibitively expensive special effects.  From legendary television series creator Glen A. Larson (Magnum P.I., The Six Million Dollar Man), this science fiction adventure starring Lorne Green, Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict quickly established itself as an epic and powerful television saga.

Considered cutting-edge for its time, Battlestar Galactica took home Emmy Awards for Outstanding Costume Design for a Series and Outstanding Individual Achievement - Creative Technical Crafts.

ABOUT BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE SCI FI CHANNEL MINISERIES

SCI FI Channel (www.scifi.com) transmits fantastic images to 80 million homes. SCI FI Channel is a program service of Universal Television Networks, part of Universal Television Group, a division of Vivendi UNIVERSAL Entertainment (VUE).  In December 2003, SCI FI Channel will premiere a 4-hour miniseries, Battlestar Galactica, starring Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell.

Battlestar Galactica, SCI FI Channel Miniseries Synopsis

It is a time of peace. Earth is a myth. Technology, a fearsome menace. More than 40 years after the armistice that ended the Cylon War, the human race suffers a sneak attack by a new breed of robots, indistinguishable from humans and more deadly than ever.  As billions die on the 12 Colonies of Kobol, the last hope of humanity lies with the Battlestar Galactica, a recently decommissioned warship that has been turned into a flying museum, and with the courage and wisdom of Commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) and President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell).  Without a home, without hope and facing extinction, these last remnants of humanity must rely on each other for survival as they evade their robotic pursuers.

ABOUT THE "BATTLESTAR GALACTICA" VIDEO GAME

Fans can set their sights on a fleet of Cylon raiders in the upcoming "Battlestar Galactica" videogame in stores this September for the PlayStation(r)2 computer entertainment system from Sony Computer Entertainment America and the Xbox(tm) video game system from Microsoft. Set 40 years before the events of the series, the "Battlestar Galactica" video game puts players in the role of Ensign William Adama in his first assignment onboard the Galactica.  Featuring spectacular cinematics that propel the player forward and epic space combat, the game allows players to fly up to five different fighters and engage in interstellar dogfights with the assembled forces of a Cylon battlegroup.  As players progress through the game, they'll be able to take command of up to three wingmen and unlock ever-more-powerful weapons to aid in their desperate struggle.

Have a great and safe weekend everyone and please drop by Monday for a full weekly schedule of new DVD and other media reviews. Thank you.
