The two-part
fourth season premiere of Stargate: Atlantis hits the ground running
right from where the third season finale left off with ever heightening danger
as the power of Atlantis is slowly drained and subsequently the shields are
weakening, lives are either lost or in great jeopardy, and the Atlantis crew
can’t get seem to get a break no matter what they do. Nearly every character
gets a chance to shine in this two-parter, which brings back Julie Staite as
Doctor Jennifer Keller as an official cast member and Stargate: SG-1’s
Amanda Tapping as the new military commander of Atlantis, Colonel Samantha
Carter. While fans will miss Torri Higginson as Doctor Weir, they should be
pleased to know that while her fate is uncertain, there is always a possibility
for her return to Atlantis.
David Ogden Stiers
returns as Oberoth and his presence as expected brings everything up a notch as
the Atlantis team makes a desperate decision to go to the Replicator home world
and discovers their true purpose. A new enemy for the series is supposed to make
its appearance this season, but unless I somehow missed it, the new enemy is not
seen in the fourth season premiere episodes.
Just in time for
the fourth season premiere, MGM and FOX
have released the complete third season of Stargate: Atlantis on DVD
and it’s a great way to catch up as the fourth season episodes premiere. Stargate:
Atlantis will make its fourth season premiere with the episode entitled Adrift
on Friday, September 28, 2007, at 10pm (ET/PT) and the second half of the fourth
season premiere entitled Lifeline will follow on Friday, October 5, 2007,
at 10pm (ET/PT) only on SCI FI.
