Elvis
Presley stars as Dr. John Carpenter, who works to help disadvantaged patients in
an inner-city clinic. Mary Tyler Moore joins him as a plain clothed Roman
Catholic Nun, who along with a few other sisters of the faith are assigned to
help the doctor. Soon feelings of attraction between the doctor and sister
complicate their own professional vows and commitments. Among the songs Elvis
sings are “Rubberneckin,” “Let Us Pray,” and “Change Of Habit.” The
movie takes a somewhat lighter approach to issues of the time in which it was
produced, but never the less is still engaging. Edward Asner, who would later
gain acclaim as “Lou Grant” on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” as well as
the dramatic spin-off entitled “Lou Grant,” appears in the film as well. The image is presented in a clear anamorphic widescreen
(1.85:1) aspect ratio with no blemishes on the source print and a two-channel
Monaural Soundtrack. The menus are standard interactive still frames that are
easy to navigate.
A
full-framed theatrical trailer and cast and crew biographies with select credits
and production notes wrap up the extra features along with a recommendation for
Universal Home Entertainment’s “Elvis:
His Best Friend Remembers,” which will debut day and date with “Change
Of Habit” on Tuesday July 30, 2002 from Universal Home Entertainment.
