Corporate
greed enables Chucky to literally be reanimated and after finishing off the
corporate head, he uses computer files to track down Andy Barclay at a military
school to get a new body and revenge. This third entry reunited screenwriter and
“Childs Play” Dan Mancini with Executive Producer and “Chucky” Doll
Creator David Kirschner and features special effects by Kevin Yagher. While the
first two films and the popular fourth entry in the series “Bride Of Chucky”
have been available on DVD-Video for a while, this is the first time “Childs
Play 3” has been released on DVD in Region One, North America.
In
fact now the second, third, and fourth films in the series can also purchased in
a box set entitled “The Chucky Collection” from Universal Studios Home Video
while the first film continues to be made available separately from MGM.
Presented
in an anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) aspect ratio, “Child's
Play 3” looks pretty darn good with no compression grain and solid colors. The
English Dolby Surround Soundtrack is quite well rounded and aggressive in nature
too. A French Language Dolby Surround Soundtrack and English Captions for the
hearing impaired as well as French and Spanish Language Subtitles are also
encoded onto the DVD as options. The theatrical trailer (1:42) is included too.
The
menus are standard interactive still frames that are easy to navigate. For fans
of the series, “Child's
Play 3” is not a bad deal at all and completes the collection on DVD until the
next rumored sequel gets produced. “Child's
Play 3” is available on DVD-Video now courtesy of Universal Studios Home
Video.
