After discovering the legendary Chupacabra, a man has the beast taken aboard a sea vessel where the creature goes on bloody rampage. Featuring John Rhys Davies and Giancarlo Esposito, “Chupacabra Terror” is good for a quick home video fix of blood and gore, but please note that this is not a movie one should go into with high expectations. The creature effects are rather lackluster. It looks like a guy in a suit and in fact it is a guy in a suit! The monster itself resembles the mutant bear creature from “Prophecy: A Monster Movie” more than anything that at least I would imagine a chupacabra to look like.

The anamorphic widescreen image is solid and the English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Soundtrack is definitely well mixed. English Closed Captions for the hearing impaired and English, French, and Spanish Language Subtitles are also encoded as options. In addition there is a screen specific feature length audio commentary track with Writer and Director John Sheppard and Co-Writer Steve Jankowski. A making of featurette (11:56) and preview trailers that include “The Cave”, “Boogeyman”, “Vampires: The Turning”, “Sasquatch Hunters”, “ xXx: Uncensored Director’s Cut”, and “Wild Things: Diamonds Are Blue” conclude the extra value features on this DVD.

The menus are all standard interactive still frames and are easy to navigate. “Chupacabra Terror” will be available on DVD-Video on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at retailers on and offline courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
