In
this co-production between Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, a teenager
comes across a watch that accelerates one’s genetic structure so that the
world outside seems almost as though they were standing still. Those unaffected
by “Hyper Time” see the actions as almost instantaneous or magical
activities. The problem is that prolonged exposure to this acceleration causes
rapid aging. The other problem is that there are rogue NSA agents out to steal
the technology and sell it to the highest bidder.
The
third feature film to be directed by Jonathan Frakes and his first “non-Star
Trek” theatrical release is really more of a family film with an emphasis on
young teenage and preteen adults more than anything else. This DVD features an
outstanding anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) transfer that is one of the
best-looking DVD-Video’s from Paramount Home Entertainment yet. An aggressive
and atmospheric English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Soundtrack is included along
with an English and French Language Dolby Surround Soundtrack and English
Captions and Closed Captions encoded on to the DVD as options.
Extra
features include a 10-minute videotaped behind-the-scenes promotional featurette
with cast and filmmaker interviews from the time of the film’s production.
There are four full-framed (1.33:1) promotional spots that collectively run for
about 3-minutes or so and the theatrical trailer presented in a beautiful
anamorphic (1.85:1) aspect ratio with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.
A music video for “Holiday In My Head” with actors from the feature and
scenes from the film appearing in the music video by Smash Mouth and a music
video for “It’s The Weekend” Lil’ J wrap up the extra features on this
DVD.
The
menus are standard interactive still frames that are easy to navigate.
“Clockstoppers” will debut on DVD-Video
on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 from Paramount Home Entertainment.
