Just in time for the release of “Star Wars: Episode II: Attack Of The Clones” is the new “Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds” Expansion Pack entitled appropriately enough “Clone Campaigns.” Anyone who has not seen the movie yet might want go out and see it first before they read any further since the inclusions are filled with spoilers. For those who download the new disc into the game they will add the combined forces of the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems into complex battle campaigns mixed with the Galactic Empire, the Gungans, the Rebel Alliance, the Royal Naboo, Trade Federation, and Wookies powered by the same game engine used in the highly successful strategy game “Age Of Kings.”
Imagine the exotic locales, civilizations, technologies, and bonuses like increased population, improved combat, and an expanded databank, along with music from the “Attack Of The Clones” Soundtrack added to create a unique “Star Wars” experience. While some interesting combinations like a battle droid riding an exotic animal into battle is possible, certain elements are only available with certain forces, but the amount of the character interactions are only limited by the imaginations of the players. Tech maps as well as a detailed instruction manual are enclosed with the CD-ROM within the jewel case. The packaging is in a smaller, nicer looking glossy box about the same size as the recent “Jedi Outcast” PC CD-ROM release. As an extension of the already popular “Galactic Battlegrounds,” the “Clone Campaign Expansion Pack” is a must buy for “Star Wars” strategy game players.
