Can’t
get enough of a Kiefer Sutherland fix even after you bought Fox’s “24:
Season One – Collector’s Edition” DVD box set? Well Artisan has released a
thriller starring Sutherland as a professional killer wanted by the government
to turn State’s evidence. In the middle of the desert he takes on a plucky
female hitchhiker on the run with secrets of her own.
For
a straight-to-video DVD, “Desert Saints” is entertaining enough to pass an
afternoon or evening and short enough to still have time to do something else,
like watching another DVD. The picture quality is good though a bit uneven with
some noticeable grain here and there. The film is presented in a (1.33:1) aspect
ratio with an English Dolby Pro Logic Surround Soundtrack coupled with English
Closed Captions for the hearing impaired and Spanish Language Subtitles. The
trailer is the only extra feature included. The Soundtrack is clear and free of
background analogue hissing. The menus are standard interactive still frames
that are easy to navigate. “Desert Saints” is available now on DVD-Video
from Artisan Home Entertainment.
