I got into the Cartoon Network’s original animated series “Ed, Edd N Eddy” from watching reruns while waiting for the latest installment of Cartoon Network’s and Lucasfilm LTD’s “Star Wars: Clone Wars” this past November. I fell in love with the show’s signature character Ed, a big lug in a green jacket that is not too bright, but is as strong as an ox and generally well meaning, and then there’s Edd, who is referred to by his friends as “Double-D” because he is the hapless sane character of the group whose words of wisdom are ignored by the trio’s insane unofficial leader “Eddy,” a 12 year old always looking to scam the eclectic mix of neighborhood kids that live in what is called the “cul-de-sac.” The three lead characters are so ugly, they are cute and my favorite character is “Ed” whose silly voice fits the animated counterpart perfectly. The series has a watermark look to it that somehow enhances the craziness of the characters that often break the fourth wall between the viewer and the show in amusing ways. If they have not done so already, I wish they would release little figurines of Ed, Edd and Eddy because I’d love to have them standing on my office desk with all my other collectible knickknacks and if they have, drop me a note so I can find out where I can buy them.

Brand new episodes of “Ed, Edd N Eddy” will debut this Friday, January 23, 2004, at 9:30pm (ET/PT) with three brand new episodes following every Friday at 9:30pm (ET/PT) there after. Here is a synopsis of the episodes complete with their airdate:

Friday, January 23, 2004: “You Ed Here” – Eddy is horrified when Kevin finds out his middle name is “Skipper.” “The Good Ole Ed” – Ed, Edd, and Eddy reminisce about past exploits when Edd asks them to contribute to his new time capsule.

Friday, January 30, 2004: “Thick As An Edd” – Eddy is caught in the middle when Edd and Ed fight over Ed’s stinky jacket. “Sorry, Wrong Ed” – Ed, Edd and Eddy run afoul of Rolf’s cursed phone.

Friday, February 6, 2004: “Robbin’ Ed” – Eddy vows revenge when a masked stranger makes off with the proceeds of his latest scam. “A Case Of Ed” – Edd becomes convinced that he has symptoms of a terminal disease.

Friday, February 13, 2004: “Hand Me Down Ed” – A neighborhood toy is passed from one person to another and changes everyone who touches it. “Run For Your Ed” – The Kanker Sisters comb the cul-de-sac for a missing heirloom.

“Ed, Edd N Eddy” is something kids will love and is also funny for adults too. I was surprised by how quickly the show grew on me and I found these episodes I have detailed above to be great. Don’t miss them.
