“Star
Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Saga” is an amazing strategy game that allows
players to go against the computer or another player as well as play against
others over the Internet with vast campaigns and fabulous graphics that combines
the original “Galactic Battlegrounds” and “Clone Campaigns” in one
package so one can have great strategic game play mixing in elements from
Episodes, I, II, IV, V, and VI collectively.
Leading
great armies from the Star Wars saga in real time clashes, players can have the
Galactic Empire take on The Trade Federation or
the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems mixed into complex
battles with the Galactic Empire, the Gungans, the Rebel Alliance, the Royal
Naboo, and the Wookies powered by the same game engine used in the highly
successful strategy game “Age Of Kings.”
With
full 360-degree bird’s eye views of battlegrounds allowing players
imaginations to be flexed to create battle strategies and even pit heroes
against heroes or villains against villains with a variety of locales from
planetary environments to water and space battles and more. The technology is
upgradeable with different strategies and levels. Imagine
the exotic locales, civilizations, technologies, and bonuses like increased
population, improved combat, and an expanded databank, along with music from the
“Attack Of The Clones” Soundtrack added to create a unique “Star Wars”
experience. While some interesting combinations like a battle droid riding an
exotic animal into battle is possible, certain elements are only available with
certain forces, but the amount of the character interactions are only limited by
the imaginations of the players.
The
game, including the “Clone Campaigns Expansion Pack” is spread across two
CD-ROMs that are easy to install and housed in a jewel case within a small box
that includes a comprehensive and well-written 46-page manual. Three
“Star Wars” Trading Card Game Booster Packs are included within the
packaging as well, but unfortunately the foldout map like information insert is
not included within this combined reissue.
Keep
your ears open to hear Jake Lloyd, Ahmed Best, Michael Gough and Ethan Phillips
lending their voices along with the other talented voice actors, some of who
have participated in other games available from LucasArts Entertainment Company.
This
is a comprehensive game that requires many sittings to fully take in, but were
it not so comprehensive I do not think it would be so great. This is one of
the best video games for PC compatible computers LucasArts Entertainment Company
has ever released and now consumers can get the entire game along with the
“Clone Campaigns Expansion Pack” for a low retail price. “Star Wars:
Galactic Battlegrounds Saga” is available for Windows based PC game players
now from LucasArts Entertainment Company.
