Now Star Wars fans can interact in a role-playing video game environment like never before with the online PC-CD-ROM experience of LucasArts Entertainment Company’s “Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.” Players choose from one of eight species to customize their character down to the smallest detail and then follow a path of gameplay and interaction in the “Star Wars” universe. One can join the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire and explore various worlds in this expansive gaming experience.
The action is completely real time and even offers the possible interaction with the iconic characters of the classic “Star Wars Trilogy” with a new 3D engine that truly represents the characters in amazing detail. The game program itself comes housed within a deluxe 3- Disc CD-ROM jewel case and due in part to the amount of people registering online to play the game, individuals with dial up service in particular would greatly benefit from a high-speed DSL type connection. The first 30 days are free upon registration. Afterwards player are charged a subscription fee to continue interacting online. Internet service registration is an absolute requirement. You cannot even get a glimpse at the game without it. This is not a game that you just plug in and play in minutes, at least not at first. Included within the packaging is a 192-page spiral bound players adventure manual. Fortunately there is also a 17-page insert quick start guide included too.
A
high end PC will handle the game far more easily than an entry-level system. My
own PC, which is less than a year old could benefit from a few enhancements to
run the game easier. This is the nature of software for computers. It just seems
to grow faster than the machines that are supposed to play them so be sure to
check those system requirements before you buy it. “Star Wars Galaxies: An
Empire Divided” is available on PC-CD-ROM at retailers on and offline and for
the “Star Wars” enthusiast, it is definitely worth a look.
