Available now from on DVD-ROM for the Microsoft X-Box, Sony PlayStation 2, and Nintendo Game Cube is the epic role-playing strategy video game “Gladius.” This is one excellent interactive videogame fantasy adventure that takes advantage of the capabilities of all three platforms it is available for so no one will be left out as they engage various creatures and beings in brutal gladiatorial arenas with a developing combat system across 15 landscapes in a well-realized fantasy world.

What is great about “Gladius” is that it offers multiplayer play as well as single player options that enables a certain amount of diversity so you can either interact in the arena using various role-playing battle modes through the game pad keys or you can simply choose to play as more of standard videogame and let the program perform the moves for you in the battlefield. The animation is excellent with heroes and villains and plenty of supporting roles that help to make this game a more realistic world with weapons, shields, armor, helmets, and the occasional accessory to make it all more visually interesting too.

PlayStation 2 and Game Cube owners will want to get a fresh memory card to store their progress and those with televisions that offer high definition capability can actually play the game in a higher resolution progressive scan mode in systems like the Nintendo Game Cube. This enables a 16 by 9 enhanced widescreen version of the game that reformats the composition accordingly. Serious game players may want to invest in “Prima’s Official Strategy Guide,” which is published by Random House and is good for all three platforms and carries a suggested retail price in the U.S. of $14.99.

“Gladius” is truly a commendable effort on the behalf of everyone at LucasArts Entertainment Company and is available now on DVD-ROM at retailers on and offline for the Microsoft X-Box, Nintendo Game Cube, and Sony PlayStation 2.
