“Indecent
Proposal” earned over 100 million dollars in the box office and was the
subject of conversation on talk shows and parody on comedies. The premise takes
the Faustian offer to a different level with a married couple (Woody Harrelson
and Demi Moore) that fall upon hard times and take a gamble in Las Vegas where
the wife catches the eye of a billionaire played by Robert Redford. “One night
with your wife and you both get one million dollars.” Despite initial
reservations, they go for the money only to have their relationship falls apart
under the emotions afterwards with Redford waiting in the wings to sweep Moore
off her feet.
Director
Adrian Lyne delivers a screen specific audio commentary that is somewhat marred
by frequent pauses where he doesn’t say much of anything. The transfer looks
very good, but there are a few scenes with some visible grain. A well-mixed
English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Soundtrack is included along with English and
French Language Dolby Stereo Surround Soundtracks as well as English Captions
and Closed Captions encoded on to the dual layered DVD as options.
The
main menu feature full motion scenes from the film and the subsequent menus are
standard interactive still frames that are easy to navigate. Day and date with
the DVD release of “Indecent Proposal,” Paramount Home Entertainment will be
releasing another Adrian Lyne film to DVD-Video. Look for a DVD review of
“Fatal Attraction: Special Collector’s Edition” here soon and look for
both “Fatal Attraction: Special Collector’s Edition” and “Indecent
Proposal” on DVD-Video sold separately on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 from
Paramount Home Entertainment.
