Warner Home Video is bringing the premiere episode of the popular Cartoon Network animated series “Justice League” to DVD-Video. Entitled “Secret Origins,” the episode shows how Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash are united by the Martian Manhunter to protect the Earth from shape shifting alien invaders. Featuring the voices of Kevin Conroy and George Neuborn reprising their animated character roles as Batman and Superman respectively, the premiere episode also features the voices of Phil LaMarr (Samurai Jack) as Green Lantern and Carl Lumbly as the Martian Manhunter. Guest voices include Gary Cole. The episode is very reminiscent of “War Of The Worlds” and a dozen other sci-fi films, but it is still much more entertaining and the art is far more intricate when compared to the 70s’ Saturday morning network cartoon series “The Superfriends,” which the episode makes a verbal nod to at the end.

The episode is presented in the (1.33:1) aspect ratio of the original Cartoon Network cable television broadcast and features a good English Dolby Surround mix and optional English Closed Captions for the hearing impaired.

A cast and crew credit list, superhero character bios, and DVD-Video trailers for “Batman Beyond: The Return Of The Joker,” “Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero,” “The Batman Superman Movie,” and an advertisement for “Scooby Doo” on DVD wrap up the extra features included on this DVD. There are also web links for DVD-ROM users. The menus are standard interactive still frames that are easy to navigate.

“Justice League” will debut on DVD-Video on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 from Warner Home Video.
