Lake Placid 2
is a sequel to the late 1990s horror comedy written by David E. Kelley (The
Practice) and stars John Schneider as the Sheriff who must rid the Lake of
some giant hungry crocs. Cloris Leachman appears as the sister to the character
played by Betty White in the original film. I screened a rough cut of the film
with incomplete audio effects and I’m not sure if the CGI crocs were completed
either. Thus this is a hard one to judge because I can’t say it doesn’t
deliver giant crocs eating people and a touch of dark comedy, but the original
film at best was a short that I’m surprised ever got theatrical release
despite the cast and a script by David E. Kelley.
I can’t say if
this is as good as or not as good as the original. I feel like I’ve seen it
out of context so I’m afraid all I can note is if you’re up for watching
some giant man-eating jaws from the safety of your living room, this might be
for you.
