“Monsoon
Wedding” is a light drama with some comedic elements surrounding as family
from around the world get together to celebrate the wedding of two young lovers
and in the process celebrate life. At times accents are so thick that without
the English Captions on I could not understand a word. Director Mira Nair
provides a feature length audio commentary track for this DVD release along with
a making of featurette. The trailer for “About The Baby” precedes the film.
The
picture quality is a vibrant and clear widescreen (1. 85:1) aspect ratio with a
choice of equally full sounding English DTS Digital 5.1 Theatrical Surround
Sound or English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Soundtracks coupled with English
Captions for the hearing and accent impaired as well as Spanish and French
Language Subtitles encoded on to the DVD as options.
The
menus are standard interactive still frames that are easy to navigate.
“Monsoon Wedding” will debut on DVD-Video on Tuesday, September 24, 2002
from Universal Home Entertainment.
