Turner Network Television will air 16 Westerns over three days with a total of 52 hours of classic and original Western films during the weekend of January 17, 2003. This serves as a lead into TNT’s new original film, “Monte Walsh,” starring Tom Selleck, Isabella Rossellini, and Keith Carradine. This is a TriPlex World Premiere with “Monte Walsh” appearing at 8pm (ET/PT) on Friday January 17, Saturday, January 18, and Sunday, January 19, 2003. Among the other films being shown during this TriPlex World Premiere Western Weekend are “Quigley Down Under,” “Crossfire Trail,” “Maverick,” “Pale Rider,” “The Quick And The Dead,” “Rio Bravo,” “Hang’Em High,” “The Outlaw Josey Wales,” and “McLintock!” Please check your local cable and satellite listings for show times.

Selleck devotes his laidback charm for this majestic western about a die-hard cowboy who refuses to give into changing times in the final days of the old west. The film deals with the advent of commercialism and industry reaching out into the frontier and subsequently dehumanizing and emasculating the cowboy spirit. The film was shot for widescreen televisions and should broadcast with a letterboxed (1.78:1) aspect ratio though that could be subject to change. For a television western, you cannot get any better than TNT so I think “Monte Walsh” is worth a watch. There will be additional encores of “Monte Walsh” as follows:
