Set
in 1985, “Nightstalker” is based on the true story of a satanic serial
killer randomly butchering women and men in their homes. The film is definitely
effective in that it is quite disturbing with good makeup effects and scary
hyper motion images of the killer, as he sees himself as a being possessed by
demons. Roselyn Sanchez plays the cop out to take the killer down. The film also
stars Danny Trejo who produced as well. Presented in an anamorphic (1.78:1)
aspect ratio with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, “Nightstalker” has
both a suitably creepy look and a soundtrack that sounds like I was composed in
hell. On DVD these facets come across well. An English and a French Language
Dolby Surround Soundtrack is also included as well as an optional screen
specific filmmaker’s commentary track. English Captions and Closed Captions
for the hearing impaired and French and Spanish Language Subtitles are encoded
as options too.
Two
deleted scenes under headings “At The Bar” (3:11) and “The Berry On The
Vine” (2:07) are presented in widescreen (1.78:1) aspect ratios with good
picture quality and clear English Stereo Sound. Trailers for “Night Stalker”
(1:20), “Identity” (2:26), “Double Vision” (1:58), and “SPIDER”
(2:14) wrap up the extra features. The interactive menus feature animated
transitions and are easy to navigate.
“Nightstalker” will debut on DVD-Video on Tuesday, August
5, 2003 from Columbia
TriStar Home Entertainment.
