I
was not fond of this 1999 television miniseries adaptation of the story of
“Noah’s Ark.” I did not find the element of humor and liberties
scriptwriter Peter Barnes took with this adaptation particularly entertaining. I
prefer the dramatization with John Huston as depicted in the feature film he
directed entitled “The Bible …In The Beginning.”
Artisan
Home Entertainment’s DVD edition presents “Noah’s Ark” in the (1.33:1)
aspect ratio of the original television broadcast with English Dolby Surround
Sound and optional English Closed Captions for the hearing impaired. There is a
memory game, which can be played on any DVD-Video player and is based on pairing
up animals for the ark. A home video trailer is also included.
The
menus feature full motion scene selections and animated transitions and are easy
to navigate. There is also an insert with liner notes within the DVD keep case.
“Noah’s Ark” is available on DVD-Video now from Artisan Home
Entertainment.
