This
straight to video feature brings Steven Seagal back to his usual three or four
word film titles of yesteryear that either emphasize the law or killing like
“Above The Law,” “Out For Justice,” “Hard To Kill” or in this case
“Out For A Kill.” The film has Seagal as a world-renowned archeologist, who
is framed as a drug smuggler and imprisoned while the Chinese mafia families
unite to take control of global organized crime. The American and Chinese
governments then use Segal to infiltrate and bring down the crime lords.
Presented
in an anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) aspect ratio, “Out For A Kill” looks a
bit grainy with some noticeable video noise. However the English Dolby Digital
5.1 Surround Soundtrack is very aggressive and makes full use of the surround
channels to create a jarring effect. A French Language Dolby Digital 5.1
Surround Soundtrack as well as Portuguese and Spanish Language Stereo
Soundtracks along with English Captions and Closed Captions and French,
Portuguese, and Spanish Language Subtitles are also encoded as options. Setting
details and language translations are activated using the subtitle options and
are not burned into the print used.
Trailers
for “Out For A Kill” (1:41), “Double Vision” (1:58), and “The
Foreigner” (2:13) are the only extra features on the DVD. The menus are
standard interactive still frames that are easy to navigate. Steven Seagal fans
can pick up “Out For A Kill” on DVD-Video now from Columbia TriStar Home
Entertainment.
