Amanda Tapping (Stargate SG-1) hosts this
new SCI FI Channel investigative series, which focuses on various cases of what
would be considered the paranormal or extraordinary and attempts to use
scientific examination to determine, which phenomena is truly beyond rational
explanation. At the end of the episode the results are revealed. In the series
premiere, “Proof Positive Evidence Of Paranormal” examines the phenomena
known as “rods,” strange aberrations invisible to the naked eye that are
captured on camera. Are they some new species we have yet to identify or is it
something else?
The next portion details a Michigan
woman’s claims that her husband haunts an abandoned lighthouse where he served
as a caretaker before he passed away? How can the lighthouse beam at night if
the electricity has been shut down and removed decades ago at the request of the
Coastguard? Finally we have a gentleman who claims he is the reincarnation of a
19th century American artist. All of the evidence for the three cases
is compelling, but only one is substantiated. I used to enjoy “Sightings”
and “Encounters” back in the 1990s so this “what if?” sort of stuff is
right up my alley and in certain cases fascinating. It also doesn’t bother my
eyes to see the lovely Amanda Tapping an extra time on TV with a new show.
In future episodes “Proof Positive
Evidence Of The Paranormal” will examine reports of human/reptile hybrids,
remote viewing, the Chupacabra, and spontaneous combustion. For what it is, I
found “Proof Positive Evidence Of The Paranormal” to be intriguing, but like
any show of this type, the cases will ultimately prove whether or not the people
“want to believe…” “Proof Positive Evidence Of The Paranormal” will
premiere as a part of SCI FI’s new “Alternative Reality” Wednesday night
programming block at 8pm (ET/PT) on October 6, 2004.
