Like
him or hate him, Ashton Kutcher’s “Punk’d” is fun to watch because he
really sticks it to the celebrities and at times exposes the absurdities of
stardom to show us all it doesn’t matter who you are, anyone can be fooled and
the stars are no smarter than any of us. Perhaps only a bit luckier…
My favorite pranks included in the DVD set are Lara Flynn Boyle shopping
for free at a boutique and the typical red carpet prank interviews.
All
eight of the second season episodes are presented in their original (1.33:1)
broadcast aspect ratio with English Stereo Sound spread across two discs. There
is a “follow the helicopter to the deleted scenes” feature that can be
activated while watching the episodes or the viewer can choose to watch the
deleted segments individually or as one reel on the second disc. There are also
two never-before-seen segments on disc two and optional audio commentary on all
of the episodes featuring Ashton Kutcher, Ahmed Ahmed, Steve Rannazzisi, and
Co-Creator Jason Goldberg.
There’s
also a funny “Punk Your Friend Option” on the DVD as well as a featurette
detailing how a show is put together. The shows are uncensored and the
interactive menus feature Ashton Kutcher breaking the fourth wall to communicate
with the viewers.
If
you liked the first DVD set, I think there are enough bonus features here to
make this set work buying too. “Punk’d: The Complete Second Season” is
available on DVD-Video now at retailers on and offline courtesy of MTV Home
Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.
