Alec Baldwin served as one of the executive producers and stars in this thriller for TNT. Baldwin stars as Paul Kane, a man who awakes from a coma with scattered memories of his past, including the airplane accident that killed his family and nearly ended his life. With the help of a psychiatrist (Louise Lombard), Kane attempts to reconstruct his memories only to discover he was a government assassin. His boss (Powers Boothe) is eager to bring Kane back into the fold, but Kane can no longer do his job. As he begins to question the nature of everything around him, he soon discovers that there may have been more to his own past motivations than he ever imagined.

“Second Nature” follows the same kind of paradigm found in thrillers as diverse as “The Bourne Identity” and “Total Recall,” but while even subtle imitation can be flattery, it does not necessarily elevate a TV movie above the usual pulp. Alec Baldwin and Powers Boothe deliver great screen performances with lots of presence, but even with their talents, there is nothing to hide the fact that “Second Nature” feels more like an imitation of something else that was done a lot better beforehand too. So as long as viewers watch without great expectations, “Sudden Nature” is a fine popcorn TV thriller, but little else. “Sudden Nature” will debut on TNT on Sunday, June 22, 2003, at 8pm (ET/PT) with encores as follow below.
