The second season of the hit Cartoon Network original animated series “Teen Titans” began on Saturday, January 10, 2004, but things are about the get edgy as a new character joins the series in the Saturday, January 24, 2004 episode entitled “Terra.” Terra is a teenage girl with big powers. She can literally move mountains, make rocks fly, and cause earthquakes. However she does not know how to control her powers so her emotional ups and downs could literally be deadly to others. The Teen Titans seek to invite her to join their group so they can help her control her powers, but that is not the only offer she has received. The villainous Slade has offered to mentor her himself.
The introduction of “Terra”
offers great possibilities for future episodes of “Teen Titans.” She may be
the most strongest alley they will ever have, but she could also become an
unstoppable villain of Slade has his way with her. While the episode has a fair
share a goofiness aimed at kids involving a subplot between a love struck Beast
Boy and somewhat shy Terra, the outcome of the episode helps to elevate it above
the standard kids animated series with a bit of pathos that might be seen more
often in the Cartoon Network’s other hit original animated series based on
D.C. Comics characters, “Justice League.” The focus of “Teen Titans”
remains on pre-teenagers, but elements like this help to make the show involving
for adults too. Do not miss “Teen Titans: Terra” when it debuts on Cartoon
Network this Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 9pm (ET/PT).
