The
animated update to Robert Louise Stevenson’s Treasure Island is coming to DVD-Video
in a few weeks, but in the meantime Parents can treat their kids to entertaining
and educational “Disney’s Treasure Planet: Read-Along DVD” with a condensed
version of the story narrated and voiced with subtitles in English, German,
French, Italian, Spanish Language Stereo like an animated storybook. These
options extend to the sing-along portion for “I’m Still Here (Jim’s
Theme)” (3:31) and “Always Know Where You Are” (3:19). In addition the
music video by John Rzeznik for “I’m Still Here (Jim’s Theme)” (4:11) is
presented in a (1.85:1) letterboxed aspect ratio with stereo sound. The read and
sing-along features are all presented in a (1.33:1) aspect ratio.
A
DVD-Video Game as well as a Vocabulary Game is included as well as web links for
DVD-ROM users and trailers for “The Lion King,” “The Jungle Book 2,”
“Piglet’s Big Movie,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “101 Dalmatians 2:
Patch’s London Adventure,” “Lilo & Stitch: Trouble In Paradise PC
–CD-ROM,” and the “Disney Mania Audio CD,” “Hilary Duff LP,” and
“Disney Greats Volume 1 Through 3.”
The
menus and documentation are easy to navigate and feature instructions in
English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish too. The DVD is NTSC Region Zero
so it should play in any DVD player. PAL users make sure NTSC playback
capability is available on your DVD Player. “Disney’s Treasure Planet:
Read-Along DVD” will debut on Tuesday February 25, 2003 from Walt Disney
Records.
