Artisan Home Entertainment is releasing a series of budget DVD titles for Valentine’s Day viewing. Among them is “Wildflower,” which tells the story of forbidden relationships and passion among the Bible belt poor of ages past. The 1991 film is notable for an early acting appearance by Reese Witherspoon, who occupies a higher billing than costar Patricia Arquette. The film also stars Beau Bridges and was photographed by Spielberg’s Cinematographer of choice Janusz Kaminski and was directed by Diane Keaton.

The film is presented in its original broadcast aspect ratio of (1.33:1) with a muted tone that appears to be an artistic choice. An English Stereo Soundtrack is included and English Closed Captions for the hearing impaired are also encoded on to the DVD as an option. The menus are standard interactive still frames that are easy to navigate.

“Wildflower” is available on DVD now for the suggested retail price of $14.98 from Artisan Home Entertainment.
