June 5, 2003 - Personal Note - I just found out that my mentor from when I was earning my MFA passed away. Obie Award winning Playwright Jack Gelber was the best professor I ever had. His stage play "The Connection" earned him an Obie Award (Off Broadway Tony) and was produced into a feature film, which can be purchased from Mystic Fire Home Video. I consider myself so lucky to have studied under him, but more lucky to have known him. Sometimes in life one never realizes how fortunate they are. I am very fortunate to have had such a great teacher and writer be my thesis adviser and friend. I hope as one of his former students, my work will reflect his guidance and represent him in a way that pays homage, respect, tribute, and pride to honor his memory. My condolences go out to his family and all who knew him. Thank you.
