May 27, 2003 - Over the weekend I saw a great horror film from Director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting) entitled "28 Days Later." The film's trailer is attached in front of theatrical screenings of "X2: X-Men United." I have to say that this is one great post apocalyptic horror film with a brilliant use of sound to intensify the attacks made by the zombie like "Infected," who are perhaps some of the most frightening screen creations to come from the U.K. in years. I applaud the manner by which the film has taken aspects of the American "zombie" genre and applied an English sensibility to it to make the film original onto itself and yet show respect to films that have come before it on both sides of the pond. "28 Days Later" opens in the United States in late June and is well worth checking out. Now here are DVD reviews of Blue Underground's "Vampyres," "Daughters Of Darkness," and "Baba Yaga" as well as Elite Entertainment's "Horror" and Synapse Films' "Flavia The Heretic: Uncensored International Version."
